LED Market Sees Real Pick-Up
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China disclosed that the LED value-chain will reach US$12 billion in 2010. This figure includes the LED manufacturing sector, LED powered engines, and finished LED lighting products. However, MIIT does not disclose detailed sources for the data. Refrigerator Boosts semiconductor Market Demand
China shipped 56.8 million refrigerator and freezer products from January to September, 2009, growing 15.9% year over year£¨YOY£©. The domestic market consumption growth of refrigerator is much faster. This was driven mainly by the home appliance to village program, old for new program, and energy saving initiatives from the Chinese government. All the above reasons boost market demand for semiconductors and components, especially the demand for MCU, MOSFET, and IGBT products.

China Releases Digital Cable TV Technical Standards
China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) released ¡°Test Method of Digital Cable TV Systems¡± and ¡°Test Method of High Resolution Digital Cable Set-Top Box£¨STB£© ¡± in November, 2009. The two test methods are industry standard to measure design and quality of set top box and digital cable systems. In other words, all equipment, including STBs, must meet the test qualification prior to being installed in the cable networks. China Outlook analysts met with industry professionals to understand the impact of the newly released industry standards.
