China Medical System Restructure Plan
The Chinese government will invest US$ 125 billion over the next two years to improve medical care and hospital conditions in community hospitals in urban areas and in county/township hospitals in rural areas. The policy will mainly add new medical equipment in township and community hospitals, as well as build new hospitals in these areas. Based on data from the China Medical Equipment Association, most medical equipment in township and community hospitals are out of date because they were installed in the 1900¡¯s. In these hospitals, portable equipment, image processing equipment, and bio-analyzer instruments are the major government purchasing focus to replace old equipment and to purchase new equipment for new hospitals. This will create semiconductor and component demand.
