Femtocell Leads 3G Terminal Device Demand
Seven of ten cellphone calls are made from private homes. This is the key reason for high basestation costs when building mobile networks, because the signal reaching into homes has lost much more power than that out in an open field. When basestations serve mainly calls from open air, the density of basestations can be much reduced which will cut down magnetic field pollution that is seen particularly in urban high-rise building areas. Femtocell is a solution to enable 3G mobile devices communication similar to a WiFi modem at very low cost.
China Outlook Consulting analysts attended a home networking forum in Beijing recently. Femtocell became a hot spot because its market development impacts 3G networking strategies. When Femtocell plays a micro-basestation role in home and office, today¡¯s large basestations and towers can be reduced in density and power emission. Femtocell becomes a huge potential market for 3G terminal devices; and 3G backbone network construction can move much faster.

China Power Supply Demand Turns to Digital
China¡¯s power supply market demand is 4.9% up year over year. Since domestic power supply demand has been around 6-8% over the last 5 years, 4.9 percent growth is not bad for 2009. Next year¡¯s market forecast is 5.4%; slightly more growth.
China power supply products consist of general purpose digital power supply, telecom power supply, PC power supply, UPS power supply, and others. The products are used mainly in telecommunications, industry equipment, medical equipment, instruments, computers, and home appliances. It does not cover AC-DC adaptors and chargers.
With energy conservation and environmental protection policies, power supply adopts digital switching technology, wireless power technology, low EMC technology, and green concepts. More power management ICs are needed to support power supply smart functions, driven by MCU applications and new power component applications.

Panel TV Leads Demand
China TV shipment showed positive growth in the first three quarters of this year. Shipment in both the domestic and export markets increased. Panel TV lead the growth in both shipment and sales revenue for both export and domestic markets. 2009 is the first year that panel TV leads quantity growth and LED backlight TV takes market share in the domestic market.

China Electronics Industry Data Analysis for Q1-Q3
China's GDP grew a staggering 8.9% in Q3 of 2009, according the data released by the National Statistics Bureau. China's GDP growth peaked at 13% in Q1 2007, and fell below 10% since Q3 2008. China's government sets the target to grow GDP by 8% for 2009. So far the average growth for the first three quarters reached 7.6%. The Q4 growth needs to go over 9% to meet the yearly target of 8%.
