One important issue you need to pay attention at the Q12008 is that Chinese government restructured its government organizations by forming the MIIT(Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to replace the MII(Ministry of Information Industry), effective in April 2008. The mission of MIIT is to promote electronics and information technology among all industry sectors. How this will bring new market demands for semiconductors and components, please read the story of ¡°Ministry restructuring: Next China Electronics Focuses¡± in the April issue of China e-Outlook.

Analysts noted that demand from both home and abroad still remains robust and the fixed asset investment would be further heated by huge imports of investment products such as raw materials and equipments. As a result, China¡¯s central bank would further lift up the required reserve ratio in the first quarter and the interest rate would not be adjusted until more economic data come out in March.
